Introduction to the Letter “N”

Welcome to another fun session of Alphabet Learning at Bakhtawar School System, Taunsa! Today, we are going to explore the 14th letter of the English alphabet – the letter “N”. It’s an important letter that appears in many words we use every day!

How to Recognize the Letter “N”

  • Capital N looks like: N
  • Small n looks like: n

You can write it by starting with a straight line down, then going up diagonally, and another straight line down. Easy and fun!

Phonic Sound of “N”

The letter “N” makes the sound /n/ as in:

  • Nest
  • Nose
  • Net

Put your tongue behind your teeth and hum a little. Can you hear the “n n n n” sound?

Writing Practice

Step-by-step writing for N:

  • Capital N: Start from the top, draw a line down. Go back up and make a slanting line, then straight down.
  • Small n: Start at the top, draw a straight line down, go up halfway and make a curve.

Activity Time

1. “N” Collage
Let’s make a collage using cutouts of pictures that start with the letter N (from newspapers or magazines): Net, Necklace, Nose, etc.

2. Name Game
Each child says their name. If it starts with “N”, they get to wear a fun “N Star” badge!

Fun Fact
Did you know the word “Nature” also starts with N? Nature includes trees, rivers, mountains, and animals – all the beautiful things around us!
